Humanity seems so tasked with the inescapable burden of forgiveness; of self, of others, of past, of present and even of the future! Most see this present moment so dimly through the unbearable glass half full of regret, misfortune, and pain. Skewed by the actions of others they ignorantly heap blame on anyone or anything in an attempt to forgo that which is obvious; that they are bound by the illusion of control, of independence and of pride. Blame can only be placed upon another when the other is in control; but is anyone really in control? Independence is the idea that one is free from the persuasion and control of others; but can one celebrate independence apart from the influence of the one they claim to be independent of? To celebrate independence is to admit the influence of the one you claim to be independent of. Pride is contrary to self-awareness, in that the ego is diametrically opposed to singularity of mind; this is clearly revealed when one attempts to gain independence by blaming another for their bondage.
FREEDOM comes from within; it comes from awakening to the reality that we are unequivocally and inseparably one! Our enemy is only our enemy because we believe that we are right and therefore they are wrong. When our desire to be right exceeds our desire to be, peace, rest and harmony is left forgotten in the shadows of our ego. The desire for independence is uniquely bound to the egotistical nature of temporal beings. This is that which drives those in bondage to the ego identity crisis. Like rebellion, the desire to be independent finds its origin in agreement with a lie…that we are not like “I AM”.
This universal task, is for most, a great burden of miss fortune that they must carry to the end of their own ego. A daunting expedition through the chambers of thought and emotion, they carry this task of forgiveness around like a mother carrying twins in the womb. Wanting to rid themselves of this burden they look to abort it by any possible means but soon realize their attempt to do so is the futile action of an infantile mind! Regret is a black hole, a quick sand pit of despair, a cesspool of waste that has never and will never define you…unless of course you give it the power too. And why give power to a past that is not?
In order to forgive another one first must come to the place of forgiving self! In order to forgive one’s self one must come to the end of the lie that is ego!
